There has been an immediate change to the rates and eligibility criteria for the Plug-in Car and Van Grants.

The plug-in car grant has now been cut from £3,000 to £2,500 and now excludes models that cost more than £35,000

The plug-in van grant has been cut to a maximum of £3,000 for small vans and £6,000 for large vans of 2.5t-3.5t GVW

This was effective from 7:00am today 18 March 2021

To be eligible for the grant, cars must cost less than £35,000. This is the recommended retail price (RRP), and includes VAT and delivery fees.

The grant will pay for 35% of the purchase price for these vehicles, up to a maximum of £2,500.

Small vans

These vehicles are less than 2,500 kilograms (kg) gross vehicle weight, have CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and can travel at least 96km (60 miles) without any emissions at all:

  • Maxus eDeliver 3 (short wheel base variants)
  • Nissan e-NV200
  • Renault Kangoo ZE
  • Renault Zoe Van

The grant will pay for 35% of the purchase price for small vans, up to a maximum of £3,000.

Large vans

These vehicles are between 2,500kg and 3,500kg gross vehicle weight, have CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and can travel at least 96km (60 miles) without any emissions at all:
